Important Preparation Guidelines

To help your skin respond optimally, please follow these important preparation guidelines:

1. Avoid Excessive Sun Exposure:

  • Do not expose your skin to excessive sunlight or sunburns within 24 hours prior to your procedure.

2. Discontinue Certain Topical Products:

  • Avoid using products that contain AHAs (Alpha-Hydroxy Acids) such as glycolic acid, lactic acid, or citric acid, as well as Retinol or Vitamin A, for at least 24 hours before your treatment.

3. Treat Active Breakouts or Open Lesions:

  • If you have any active breakouts or open lesions, please allow them to heal before undergoing the SkinPen procedure.

4. Autoimmune Therapy Precautions:

  • Wait at least 24 hours after receiving autoimmune therapies before your SkinPen treatment. It’s important to consult your primary care provider to determine if this treatment is suitable for you.

5. Isotretinoin Use:

  • If you’ve used oral isotretinoin (such as Accutane), you must wait at least 6 months before undergoing a SkinPen treatment, as it may impair proper wound healing.

6. Fitzpatrick Skin Types IV-VI:

  • If you have Fitzpatrick skin types IV-VI (darker skin tones), there is a possibility that pigment may temporarily darken before it lightens. While this was not observed in the clinical study, it’s something to be aware of.

By following these guidelines, you’ll help ensure a safe and effective treatment. If you have any questions about how to prepare for your SkinPen session, feel free to contact us. We’re here to help you get the best results!

Post-Care Guidlines following your SkinPen Procedure

Following these post-procedure guidelines will help ensure a smooth recovery and optimal results.

1. Only Use Approved Products:

  • Use only the products provided by or recommended by your skincare professional. Avoid any cosmetics, cleansers, sunscreens, moisturizers, or other topical products not specifically approved for post-microneedling use.
    • Applying unapproved products can lead to unexpected complications and irritation as your skin heals.

2. Avoid Strenuous Activity:

  • Refrain from strenuous exercise or excessive sweating for 72 hours following the procedure. Increased blood flow and perspiration can cause irritation to the treated skin.

3. Skin Hydration:

  • You may apply Skinfuse LIFT HG immediately after the procedure to hydrate your skin. Reapply as needed throughout the first 24 hours to maintain hydration and comfort.

4. Sun Exposure:

  • Strictly avoid sun exposure in the first 24 hours post-treatment, as you will not be wearing sunscreen. You may resume using sunscreen after 24 hours, but continue to minimize sun exposure for the first 72 hours following the procedure.

5. What to Expect After Treatment:

  • Immediately after the procedure, your skin may appear red and flushed, similar to a moderate sunburn. You may also experience slight tightness and mild sensitivity in the treated areas.
  • These symptoms should subside significantly within a few hours, and within 24 hours, your skin should mostly return to normal. After about 3 days, there will rarely be any visible signs of the procedure.
    • Important: Please be mindful of any social or professional events you have planned for the 3 days following your treatment.

Following these simple post-care instructions will ensure that your skin heals properly and that you get the best possible results from your SkinPen microneedling treatment. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact us!
